Fences made of concrete blocks meet all these criteria. When designing them, we must take into account the character of our home’s surroundings and our own preferences. If the building is located near a busy road, it is worth investing in a solid fence. If the road running alongside our property is quiet, we can incorporate metal or wooden sections into it. However, we must remember that the fence must, above all, blend in with the other elements of the property, namely the garden, the driveway, and the structure and architectural style of the house.
Modern greys or the colours of the sun?
An interesting new addition to the range at Polbruk is the Neo and Murro. To fencing: large-format hollow blocks measuring 20x60 cm and 10 cm high, in graphite or steel colour with a smooth texture, topped with a flat cap. These can be used to create a continuous fence with the appearance of a modern, solid wall. However, if you wish to let a little more light into your garden, it is worth installing metal or wooden fence panels. A fantastic decorative effect can be achieved by combining a solid wall made of Neo with plants, such as thuja trees or climbing ivy, grapevines or fragrant jasmine. A major advantage of concrete block fences, apart from their aesthetic appeal, is the simplicity and speed of their construction.
Building a concrete
block fence We begin constructing a concrete block fence by laying the foundation, which must be at least 30 cm wide and deep enough to reach the frost line characteristic of the geographical region. After 24 hours, formwork for the reinforced concrete footing should be erected. Its height should be at least 30 cm, whilst its width should not exceed the width of the wall itself. Reinforcement elements should be placed within the footing to strengthen the foundation and prepare the structure for the erection of posts. Next, the horizontal elements should be filled with C20/25 concrete. After this step, only the horizontal waterproofing remains to be done, which will prevent capillary moisture rise and damage to the fence from the ground side. The next stage is the installation of the fence, whose elements are joined using wet mortar. Of course, we must also remember that if we wish to install fence panels, gates or wickets, it is necessary to provide appropriate fixings and maintain the correct spacing between the posts. The fence can be topped with a canopy to protect the structure from the elements.
