Practical experience – the key!
Are you at the start of your career and wondering how to take your first steps in the paving industry? Follow in the footsteps of the experts! If you have the chance to “get in” and train under the guidance of masters – take advantage of this opportunity. The practical experience you gain will certainly be useful in the future and will make it easier to find a job that satisfies you. Your future employer, knowing about your practical experience, won’t have to teach you everything from scratch, but will simply introduce you to the structure and rhythm of work at the new company.
Set your sights on… knowledge
Adequate technical preparation is also a key factor. As is the case in any industry – the more you know, the better. Experience backed up by participation in various types of courses will be an even greater asset in the eyes of employers. It is therefore worth checking out the range of courses offered, for example, by Vocational Training Centres, which regularly organise industry-specific training courses, culminating in exams and the award of certificates. If you want to specialise in a particular field – look for courses such as those on operating measuring equipment, concrete saw operators, forklift operators, compactor and rammer operators, etc. The list is really long.
The ABCs of the paving
business
It is often the case that pavers strike out on their own. They set up their own businesses, become their own bosses, negotiate and manage a team. The experience and knowledge they have gained over years of working in the trade will now make it easier for them to make key decisions. Perhaps you’ll try setting up your own business in the future too?
