1. How do I set up a new fan page for a paving company?
In the top blue bar, find the ‘Create’ button, then select ‘Page’ from the list of available options. In the next step, select the page category: “Business or brand”. Go through the subsequent stages of creating the page: add an avatar (profile picture – ideally your company logo) and a background image (perhaps a photograph of one of your most interesting projects?). A few clicks and… your fan page is ready! Now it’s time to fill in the details – find the “Edit” button on the toolbar and explore all the options Facebook offers. Remember, the more information you provide, the easier it will be to find your business amongst the many others.
2. Images matter!
Firstly – use your own original photos! If you think the photos aren’t perfect, try retouching them using free apps. Secondly – bear in mind the formats: square posts (1080x1080 px) or vertical posts (640x800 px) display best – cropping is an option available in your computer’s basic image viewer. Thirdly – make use of the various publishing options (videos – 16:9 format, photo albums, photo carousels, slideshows). Avoid posting repetitive photos.
3. Keep it brief
When it comes to text, try to keep it concise. The shorter, the better.
4. Reach is growing…
Do you want more people to see your posts? Be sure to invest in advertising. Visit https://business.facebook.com to discover all the options!
5. Post regularly
Don’t post several times a day – your followers will see it as spam. Plan your ideas and content, for example, for the whole month, and post at sensible intervals. Longer breaks in activity can give the impression that you’ve stopped managing your fanpage, so decide for yourself how often you can post. If you know you won’t have time to manage your page over the next few days, don’t worry – use a tool that allows you to schedule posts and publish them automatically.
6. Customer
contact
Try to respond to all questions asked via social media. Be open, offer advice, and ask follow-up questions. Sometimes just a few minutes a day is enough to win over a potential customer. If you don’t want to respond to message notifications whilst working – set up automatic replies in your fan page settings.
7. Keep your personal life separate from your professional life
Your company page isn’t the place to share your holiday memories. Potential customers primarily want to read about your offering here, see photos of your work, or get in touch with you.
8. Be active in groups
There are several industry-specific groups on Facebook that bring together a community of professionals. Look for them and join as a page. Try sharing information about your fan page there, comment, and be active!
9. Facebook is also about entertainment
People log on to Facebook to take a break from their responsibilities, see what’s happening in the world, and relax. From time to time, post an anecdote or an industry joke on your fan page. During the festive season, send everyone your best wishes.
10. Don’t let yourself get riled up
The internet is a place where everyone is keen to express their opinions. Remember that not all of them reflect the true situation, but don’t let yourself be provoked. Respond to negative comments respectfully, asking for the reasons behind the dissatisfaction. Thank people for every kind word.
