Textures of pavers

Add to favorites
Paver, we are convinced that your client will appreciate your comprehensive knowledge of pavers and concrete slabs. That’s why it’s time for another industry lesson! Today we’re tackling the topic of textures – and we’re certainly not talking about complex accounting calculations, which you’re no doubt dealing with anyway as you run your own business. This time, we want to focus on the surface types of Polbruk products. How does a washed texture differ from a smooth one? What goes best with a broken-texture palisade? You’ll find the answers to these and other questions below.

An exercise to get you started

Let’s start with a little exercise. Put yourself in your client’s shoes. Imagine you have a large area on your property to develop. You need a terrace, a path and steps leading straight to the front door; your partner dreams of beautiful flower beds, and your car of a properly finished driveway. Quite a lot of space to arrange, isn’t it? You’re handed a catalogue full of inspiring solutions and… you don’t know what to choose. The multitude of ideas, colour schemes, types of pavers and slabs means that deciding which products to choose can be quite a challenge. Now think about what you would expect from a paver in such a situation. There is only one answer: expert advice.

Texture matters!

Once you’ve sorted out your client’s colour preferences, spend a bit more time on the subject of texture. After all, you know that colours look different depending on the texture and the angle of the light falling on them.  If possible, show the client product samples – this is the best way to demonstrate their aesthetic qualities. You could suggest visiting a nearby wholesaler together, where the client can see the proposed material in person on display stands or integrated into a show garden.

Smooth

texture The surface of a smooth-textured paver is uniform. Furthermore, when choosing products in this option, you have a choice of two colour options: single-colour and melange, which greatly enhance the smooth surface. Suitable for all design concepts. Examples of paving products available in this option include: the large-format slab Lamell, Exa and Commix. When looking for products with a smooth texture from the “architecture” range, take a look, for example, at the edging Flesz, the low wall/planter Tigela and the fence Neo. These solutions look very attractive when combined with the smooth-textured step Grando. However, it is important to maintain a balance between the combinations so that the arranged space does not become too chaotic.

Tip: show your client how perfectly a smooth texture looks on a wall made of irregular blocks Polbruk Albero.

Washed

texture As the name suggests, such surfaces are produced using a washing method. This allows for a highly uneven surface effect, with aggregate that can be felt to the touch. An additional advantage of this solution is its anti-slip properties, which is a particularly important aspect when it comes to outdoor spaces. The range offered by Polbruk includes examples such as: Ideo or Lamell, or traditional small pavers Avanti, Trento, and even Urbanika 60 or Complex. At first glance, these are very classic options. And that is a major advantage. Thanks to its versatile nature, this texture perfectly complements modern-style designs, but also works well for traditional properties. It looks good alongside Lingo edging or Treo, or palisades such as Zen or Hestra.

Tip: the washed texture works perfectly on surfaces such as steps, ensuring user safety.

Broken

texture Broken Palisade, Polbruk Carmino – pay particular attention to the appearance of these products. See how the irregular surface looks in different light. These solutions will win over customers who like a finish inspired by natural stone.

Tip: inspire your client with a combination of the Grando step and the Polbruk Metrik product, featuring a smooth or tumbled texture laid in a fashionable herringbone pattern.

Antique

finish Also worth noting is the antique finish, achieved using the tumbling process. And although the range of products of this type is limited to the Carmino paver range available to order – it is worth taking a closer look at them. This option is a perfect fit for properties designed in a traditional style. The pavers look beautiful near a Antara fence or a Albero low wall.
