Recruitment the old-fashioned
way
Until recently, many employers used free methods such as the noticeboard at the Job Centre or online advertisements. The effectiveness of such recruitment is steadily declining. Of course, this is not always the case, but employers complain about the lack of loyalty among staff recruited in this way. There is also the question of what skills such a professional will possess. Another method is advertising in the local press – this tool remains popular among owners of small businesses. Here, there is a greater chance that our advert will reach the older generation, who are more likely to read local newspapers. However, smaller firms are trying to cope with the labour shortage in this way.
The internet will do the job
The reach of the print media is shrinking (and the cost is by no means small), so we have a better chance of reaching people with our offer through online platforms. Who among us hasn’t looked for buy and sell listings on OLX.pl, Sprzedajemy.pl or Gratka.pl? Posting our job vacancy there can be just as effective, and the cost is lower than traditional methods. Paving companies naturally also use the services of the largest portal in this sector, namely Pracuj.pl. Posting an advert is usually very simple; you don’t even always need to register or create an account. But let’s start by checking the costs and opportunities these sites offer to advertisers.
Facebook experts
Social media, and Facebook in particular, is an increasingly popular form of recruitment. It provides completely free access to a huge database of job seekers. The Polish Facebook offers over 200 groups sorted by different types of work: permanent, weekend, seasonal, part-time, from home, abroad, etc. Facebook tends to help you find candidates from the younger age group, who are comfortable using this platform. The speed and convenience of searching, as well as the fact that it’s free, are certainly major advantages here. However, remember that users can add comments under every job posting – that’s the nature of this medium.
Referred
employees
We often hope that a referred candidate will be hard-working, grateful and reliable. This method is often effective, but we must ensure the quality of the recommendation. It is important to make our colleagues or friends aware that the people they refer must be reliable and trustworthy. It is also important to constantly expand our professional network – this will allow for broader and more effective recruitment based on a referral system. Often, especially when jobs cannot wait any longer, we need to combine different methods of searching for our top specialist.
