A few words about
the product
Polbruk Flesz
edging elements are 30 cm high and have been designed to accommodate LED lighting strips. Their minimalist shape allows for an aesthetic finish to steps, flower beds or borders in modern gardens. This smooth-textured product is available in shades of grey, making it easy to combine with various types of paving or garden slabs. A tried-and-tested solution is to combine the edging Flesz
with large-format slabs (e.g.Oland
,Lamell
,Metrik
).
LED strip
The choice of LED strip (and lighting colour) is a decision for the client. However, it is worth checking whether the product you have purchased is definitely waterproof and suitable for outdoor use. This information is usually found on the packaging. Also check whether the strip is sufficiently flexible and whether it can be bent at a 90-degree angle at the corners.
Installation of the product
Flesz
Time to roll up your sleeves and get to work! First, determine the planned depth of the edging (15 or 17 cm). Then work out how many Flesz
elements you will need to prepare the edging (approximately 5 pieces per 1 m). In the first and last elements Flesz
, use a cutting disc to cut an additional 45-degree groove so that the tape can be inserted into it. Apply a layer of silicone to the factory line around the edging. It is best to choose a colour that most closely matches the edging (grey, or possibly transparent). This will help to fill any gaps between the elements. Proceed with wet installation (on the concrete screed). Make sure to keep an eye on the ‘level’ at all times.
Paver – electrician?
The paving work is complete; time for the next challenge. And contrary to appearances, you don’t need another specialist here – an electrician – because you can easily handle the installation of the tape yourself. Add 20 cm to the length of the edging and prepare that much tape. Using a tool known as a straight edge (3 mm thick), place the strip in the channel, pressing it gently along the entire length of the edging’s edge. Once everything is ready, install the power supply unit and connect it to the mains. Remember to follow safety guidelines.
