Trending solutions
– This season, once again, the trend for solutions in muted colours continues in gardens – explains Wojciech Średniawa, chief designer at Polbruk. – When it comes to driveways, terraces and paths, this translates into choosing pavers and slabs in shades of grey, graphite or, for example, ‘latte’, a colour that has also recently gained popularity. This principle also applies to complementary design elements, such as all kinds of low walls, palisades and planters. Small-scale architecture is a great way to effectively liven up a design without having to spend a large amount of money – adds the expert.
Examples
Palisades, which are elements used to finish off steps, slopes or flower beds, offer a wide range of design possibilities in the garden and are available in many sizes and colours. For example, the Zen palisade from the Polbruk range is available in as many as six heights, from 30 to 120 cm. This makes it ideal for covering uneven ground, transforming it into an asset for the garden. The catalogue of small architectural features also includes edging, low walls and fences, which can be used to create designs that harmonise not only with pavers but also with the entire surroundings.
Natural concrete
Some people cannot decide whether they prefer to prioritise functionality in their garden – such as being able to walk around it with dry feet in the rain – or a natural look. In this respect too, paver manufacturers come to the aid of property owners. New solutions addressing such dilemmas are constantly appearing on the market. One of them is the Lira Polbruk – a concrete slab with a texture resembling a wooden plank. This solution will certainly make the space stand out from the rest, placing it firmly within the trend of modern yet visually pleasing designs.
An interesting shape can do more
In decorative paving, the power of design lies in the skilful and thoughtful selection of colours and shapes. And these can, after all, be very different – from products with gently rounded edges, through rough-textured blocks deliberately chipped to achieve an aged effect, to products with a simple edge profile. The variety of shapes, in turn, allows for the creation of circles, arcs, curves or even more elaborate patterns, such as stars, hearts or flowers. In short – it seems that the only limit to a design is the designer’s imagination.
