In 2012, young designers, including students of architecture, construction, civil engineering and related disciplines, were set the challenge of creating a real-world urban space design in Ciechocinek. The task required the use of materials from the Polbruk collection. To assist them, each participant had access to the company’s product catalogue at Polbruk and a CAD library available on the website polbruk.pl. Over 20 entries were submitted to the competition from universities across various regions of Poland. The winning design will soon be implemented by the Municipality of Ciechocinek.
The winners received their prizes and honourable mentions from Mr Aleksander Szyszko, Chairman of the Management Board of Polbruk S.A., and Mr Leszek Dzierżewicz, Mayor of Ciechocinek. First place went to Radosław Kielak and Paweł Wyżyński – fifth-year students at the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, University of Life Sciences in Lublin; second place to Natalia Moskalik and Małgorzata Kujawska – students at the University of Life Sciences in Poznań; third place – Weronika Krauze and Kacper Kępiński – students at the Krakow University of Technology; fourth – Michał Kucharski – a student at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice; and fifth – Małgorzata Chamera and Rafał Mgłosiek – students at the Catholic University of Lublin.
“The organisation of such a large-scale, successful undertaking would not have been possible without our company’s long-standing, close cooperation with the Municipality of Ciechocinek. The ‘Kierunek Ciechocinek’ campaign is, above all, an expression of Polbruk’s desire to support and educate young talent in the field of urban design and development, as well as to promote and build brand awareness among future architects. It is also our company’s unique contribution to enhancing the appeal of urban areas, where Polbruk pavers provide an aesthetic finish to the most prestigious locations in Polish towns,” concludes Aleksander Szyszko, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Polbruk.
