Stair Tread
Building stairs is extremely easy thanks to the use of the Grando stair tread. These monolithic stair blocks with a modern look are consistent with the entire Grando block system, from which you can build low walls, edging and retaining walls. The new stair tread is available in two practical sizes: 100×40 cm (rough-textured) and 100×46 cm (smooth), 15 cm high, and in four attractive colours: latte, hawaii, paloma and alpen. The varied sizes of the treads allow for the construction of stairs of different widths. Furthermore, the textured elements, which resemble natural stone in appearance, perfectly complement gardens designed in a Mediterranean or rustic style. The smooth ones, on the other hand, effectively complement modernist and industrial designs. Thanks to the ready-made Grando steps, you can quickly build comfortable and impressive staircases. How do you do it?
A few steps to perfection
First of all, you need to ensure a stable and solid foundation. If the ground is weak, it must be reinforced with a sub-base or a foundation. To do this, at the site where the stairs are to be built, remove the top layer of soil (topsoil approx. 20–25 cm) and create a sand-cement bed or a dry concrete foundation. Once these steps are complete, we can begin building the stairs. We start by setting the edge elements (e.g. palisades, edging or a low wall) in dry or semi-dry concrete, maintaining a gap of 3–5 mm between them. Next, we lay the individual steps, starting with the lowest one. It is best to match the depth of the step to the size of the Grando stair tread. This eliminates the need to cut the material to size, and the stairs will look better without compromising on their high technical performance.
The Grando stair tread is also suitable for constructing terrace and garden stairs, as well as seating. With its help, you can quickly and easily create comfortable and attractive stairs, regardless of the style of your property.
