The Battle of Jastków in 1915 is one of many historical events of the First World War that contributed to the emergence of a distinct cult surrounding the First Brigade of the Polish Legions and its commander, Marshal Józef Piłsudski. On the first day of the conference, a historical panel took place, during which participants had the opportunity to watch a TVP-produced film, *Marshal’s Warsaw Addresses*, and listen to academic papers devoted to the Marshal’s life, as well as to the Legionnaires themselves – their identity and dreams of independence. The researchers’ presentations were followed by a gala dinner and a recital by Jan Konradek. The second day of the session was devoted to a tour of the beautiful town of Kazimierz Dolny and Janowiec, with its museum and open-air museum.
