The ZAKSA volleyball players will compete in the final wearing specially designed uniforms. The team will wear red—symbolizing Verona as the city of Romeo and Juliet, as well as their love for volleyball—complemented by white. Together, these colors form the Polish flag. The libero, wearing a blue uniform, will round out ZAKSA’s colors. In addition to sponsor names, numbers, players’ names, and the Champions League final logo, the jerseys feature the slogan: “We’ll take it in stride and keep going!” This is a slogan coined by Paweł Brandt, the physical therapist for Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, which has become symbolic of the 2020–2021 season. It was with this very chant that he cheered on the volleyball players during the Champions League semifinal rematch. Due to restrictions related to the COVID-19 virus, the match was played without an audience, so his cheers were clearly heard by hundreds of thousands of fans watching the game on TV.
ZAKSA, based in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, is one of the most successful volleyball clubs in Poland. Throughout its long history, it has won nearly every major award and title in Polish volleyball, including the 2020–2021 PlusLiga Polish Runner-Up, the 2020 Polish Champions Super Cup, the 2019 Polish Super Cup, the 2019 Polish Cup, and the 2019 Polish Championship title.
We wish the team and the players victory, and we warmly encourage everyone to cheer them on together. We’re in for some incredible excitement!
